The Innovation Bureau oversees the Data Analytics Unit (DAU), which provides agency-wide data analysis on NMSP and other NM based law enforcement agencies, court data, and data from the systems Innovations maintains. Additionally, DAU fulfills mandatory federal and legislative reporting obligations for NMSP and supports analytical programs including LPR data analytics and agency wide data quality monitoring. Why does the job exist? The DAU currently operates with three staff (one supervisor and two analysts) and carries three standing reporting mandates: PMT (quarterly legislative performance metrics), DCRA (federal death-in-custody reporting), and FBI Use of Force via LEEP, in addition to supporting command staff analytics, LPR data queries, and ongoing data quality work. As the agency's analytical demands expand with new technology programs, the unit needs another member to assist in handling ongoing projects as well as incoming requests. How does it get done? Leverage existing NMSP systems to provide reports on law enforcement data. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience directly related to the position in providing GIS support, research, statistics, computer science, data analysis, accounting, auditing, finance, economics, business, public administration, budgeting, management, and/or systems analysis or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
