Job Description
Piper Companies is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Data Operations Consultant to join a data team in Wayne, PA. The consultant will manage daily operational workflows, oversee issue triage, champion data quality initiatives, and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to implement long-term improvements that minimize risk and strengthen confidence in our data. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the daily data triage process, including intake, prioritization, escalation, and resolution of issues. Oversee end-to-end workflows for data ingestion, processing, validation, and delivery. Ensure data pipelines operate consistently and exceptions are addressed promptly. Establish and maintain SLAs for issue resolution and operational processes. Track and report on data quality metrics such as accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and consistency across core datasets. Define and enforce validation rules, quality thresholds, and operational controls. Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and work with engineering and business teams to implement preventative measures. Maintain data quality scorecards and operational reporting dashboards. Identify opportunities to automate processes, reduce manual tasks, and improve efficiency. Standardize data operations and quality management practices across teams. Develop documentation, playbooks, and process maps to ensure repeatability and reduce reliance on tribal knowledge. Support data governance initiatives related to data quality, lineage, metadata, and definitions. Act as the primary liaison for data consumers, providing updates on data availability, issues, and quality improvements. Coordinate with external data providers and internal technology partners to resolve issues and enhance workflows. Build strong relationships across business units to understand data usage, critical elements, and downstream impacts. Deliver monthly updates on data operations and quality initiatives. Promote team engagement, collaboration, and communication within the department. Mentor analysts on technical and business aspects of data quality and operations. Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business, Analytics, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data operations, data quality, data governance, or related disciplines. Experience in a data-driven or regulated industry (financial services, asset management, insurance) preferred. Strong understanding of data lifecycle, pipelines, ingestion workflows, and dependencies. Proficiency in SQL for writing and interpreting queries and validation rules. Familiarity with data quality tools, workflow systems, monitoring dashboards, and metadata management platforms. Experience with issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow). Knowledge of data modeling, lineage, and governance principles. Ability to translate technical data issues into business impact. Skilled in leading cross-functional meetings and managing complex operational workflows. Strong documentation skills for SOPs and operational playbooks. Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for business stakeholders. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and foster collaboration. Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive in problem-solving.
Preferred:
Experience with Python or data automation workflows. Knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau. Familiarity with data governance frameworks.Compensation:
