Department USD-Dean of the Medical School Physical Location of Position (City) Sioux Falls Posting Text The University of South Dakota, Sanford School of Medicine is seeking a Faculty Affairs Data & Operations Analyst to support and lead faculty affairs operations across clinical departments. This position is responsible for faculty data management, reporting, recruitment coordination, onboarding, and promotion and tenure processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across institutional systems. Office of Faculty Affairs, the analyst acts as a key liaison with regional clinical partners to guide clinicians through faculty appointment, onboarding, and clinical promotion processes. Responsibilities include maintaining comprehensive faculty databases; generating reports to support leadership, accreditation, and strategic planning; tracking promotion and tenure timelines; and assisting with academic promotion and tenure review. This position also leads analysis of faculty data trends to support curriculum planning and institutional decision making, identifies opportunities to streamline processes, and ensures compliance with academic policies and standards. The role works closely with Clinical Department Chairs, healthcare system partners, and institutional leadership to assess promotion readiness, support faculty development, and strengthen the faculty pipeline. In addition, acting as lead department manager, this position provides oversight and leadership of departmental administrative staff. The position ensures consistent implementation of faculty processes, standardizes workflows, and improves operational efficiency across units. The analyst works to strengthen communication and coordination across departments, supports staff development and performance management, and partners with leadership to maintain high-quality, consistent administrative support for faculty activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing data systems, including maintaining databases, ensuring data accuracy, and generating reports for leadership. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret trends, identify data inconsistencies, and support strategic planning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with faculty, administrators, clinical partners, and staff. High attention to detail, particularly when reviewing faculty dossiers, tracking promotion timelines, or preparing official records. Demonstrated organizational and time‑management skills, including managing multiple concurrent processes such as recruitment cycles, promotions, and reporting deadlines. Experience supervising staff, including training, performance evaluation, and process improvement. Experience developing or revising policies, workflows, or administrative procedures. Experience working with clinical partners, healthcare organizations, or distributed faculty networks. This position offers state health insurance and benefits, which includes a retirement plan with 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and 11 paid holidays.
