Adjunct Faculty Positions in Data Science at Houston Christian University The College of Science and Engineering at Houston Christian University seeks applicants for adjunct faculty positions in Data Science who are passionate about teaching and student learning in a Christian environment. Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the University. HCU accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. At Houston Christian University adjunct faculty members play a crucial role in delivering high-quality and innovative instruction, fostering meaningful engagement with students, and effectively guiding them toward the attainment of program objectives and learning outcomes in Data Science.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide clear instructions to students in assigned courses. Actively engage with students to foster their participation in the course. Maintain accessibility and respond promptly to students, faculty, and University staff. Establish and adhere to weekly office hours for addressing students' questions and providing support. Assess students' performance and offer constructive feedback on assignments. Collaborate closely with lead faculty members. Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the HCU's Faculty Handbook.
Required Academic Skills:
Strong organizational and time management abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills and proficiency in oral presentations and communication. Proficiency in utilizing an online Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard or Canvas), standard office software, and mobile applications. Mastery in Statistics, Python Programming, R Programming, Data Science, Data Mining, and Deep Learning.
Academic Requirements:
A doctoral or Ph.D. degree granted by an institution accredited by a regional agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Candidates should have completed 18 graduate semester credit hours in Data Science. A minimum of three years' experience in online teaching at the University level. Possession of Data Science courses and certifications from recognized corporate providers such as IBM, Microsoft, Google, and others is preferred. Candidates must be located in the United States with permission to work in the United States.
