Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler with expertise in delivering data models that meet business requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong client management and communication skills, along with a proven track record of successful end-to-end implementations in data engineering projects. The Opportunity In this role, you will design and build analytics solutions that deliver significant business value. You will collaborate with data and analytics professionals, management, and key stakeholders to ensure technical requirements align with business needs. Your responsibilities will include creating scalable data models and solutions that support the full data asset lifecycle. Key Responsibilities As a Senior Data Modeler, you will play a pivotal role in transforming data into actionable insights.
You will be responsible for:
Leading the design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW), using Kimball dimensional modeling methodologies. Designing and implementing star schemas (fact and dimension tables) to support enterprise analytics, BI, and reporting requirements. Defining and modeling Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), with a strong focus on SCD Type 2 to preserve full historical context. Collaboratively determining fact table grain, identifying measurable metrics, and defining relationships to supporting dimensions. Designing highly denormalized dimension structures to simplify querying and improve performance. Working with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to capture data requirements and translate them into effective data models. Creating and maintaining data dictionaries and metadata repositories. Identifying and resolving performance issues related to data models and database structures. Managing and guiding a small team of 1-3 resources. Documenting and communicating data model designs and standards across the organization. Creating detailed source-to-target mapping (STM) documentation and transformation specifications for ETL/ELT developers. Staying current with industry best practices and emerging trends in data modeling. Guiding teams on implementing dimensional modeling techniques. Utilizing industry-standard modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio) to create and maintain models and manage version control. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a STEM field. 7+ years of hands-on experience in data modeling. Strong understanding of SQL and dimensional modeling (Kimball). Experience with major relational databases or cloud data warehouses (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server). Strong knowledge of data warehousing, ETL/ELT architecture, data quality, and metadata management. Expert-level understanding of SCD Type 2 and familiarity with other SCD types (1, 3, 4, 6). Ability to translate complex business processes into efficient technical data models. Proficiency with modeling tools such as Erwin, Visio, or PowerDesigner. Experience designing and implementing database structures. Performance tuning and query optimization experience. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills. Knowledge in the hospitality domain (mandatory). Cloud certification is an added advantage. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading or mentoring junior team members. Demonstrated participation in sales opportunities or RFP responses. Cloud knowledge or certification (e.g., Azure DP-203 preferred). Experience with emerging technologies and innovative data solutions. Spanish and/or Italian speaking capability is a plus.
