Job Title:
MBSE Systems Engineer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer to support Department of Defense (DoD) embedded systems programs. The primary focus will be on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), ensuring requirements traceability and compliance. This role involves working with hardware, software, and government documentation within structured engineering environments, translating technical documentation into system models to support Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables. Responsibilities Develop and maintain system models using MBSE and SysML methodologies. Perform requirements traceability and verification across system artifacts. Interpret hardware and software documentation and translate them into system models. Support CDRL deliverables through structured modeling and documentation. Ensure alignment with DoD standards such as NIST 800-53, CMFF, and NSA Raise-the-Bar. Maintain system architecture and compliance documentation. Collaborate with software, hardware, and program teams to ensure project success. Support system integration and validation efforts. Participate in technical reviews and planning activities. Essential Skills Active DoD Secret Clearance is mandatory. Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field. 3-5+ years of systems engineering experience. Strong experience with MBSE methodologies. Experience with requirements traceability in DoD environments. Ability to translate technical documentation into system models. Understanding of computer hardware systems and architecture. Familiarity with TCP/IP and distributed systems. Experience with Git-based version control. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with DoD standards such as
NIST, CMFF, SOSA, FACE.
Military or defense program experience. Experience with RTI Connext DDS or Pub/Sub architectures. Exposure to embedded programming using C++ and Python, as well as Docker. Familiarity with Intel and Xilinx hardware platforms. Experience supporting CDRLs. Work Environment This position is based onsite in Grand Rapids, MI, within a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $80.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
