Job Description
Job Summary A global mobility and transportation organization is hiring an Engineer 2 to support enterprise cloud data engineering initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality enterprise data models that enable reporting, business intelligence, advanced analytics, and data science. The Engineer 2 serves as a subject matter expert in data modeling, translating complex business requirements into scalable conceptual, logical, and physical data models while ensuring security, governance, and performance standards are met. Responsibilities Provide technical expertise in the planning, analysis, design, implementation, and governance of enterprise data solutions. Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support analytics and long-term enterprise data strategies. Translate business needs into effective data models and database schemas that align with enterprise data architecture principles. Collaborate with business stakeholders, analytics teams, IT partners, and engineers to gather requirements and design optimal data solutions. Lead and support complex data management initiatives involving multiple business units and disciplines. Perform database design, data integration, source-to-target mapping, and data rules management, including access controls and data quality standards. Analyze and interpret data across multiple levels of detail (grain) to extract insights aligned with business objectives. Work with analytics teams to ensure efficient, performant analytics-focused data architectures. Evaluate technology effectiveness through testing, research, and investigation, and recommend improvements to increase data quality and effectiveness. Incorporate security and compliance requirements into all data architecture and modeling decisions. Qualifications Required 3+ years of experience using data modeling tools and methodologies. 3+ years of experience writing and tuning complex SQL queries and making data-driven recommendations. Strong enterprise data modeling expertise, including conceptual, logical, and physical models with DDL/DML generation. Experience with multiple data modeling methodologies, including 3NF, dimensional, and Data Vault. Hands-on experience with PowerDesigner or Erwin data modeling software. Experience working with cloud data lake solutions and enterprise lakehouse environments. Working knowledge of modeling data access layers and medallion architecture. Expertise in data analysis, data profiling, and managing data quality across diverse datasets. Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and business partners. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated commitment to incorporating security and compliance into daily responsibilities. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field. Experience with cloud lakehouse solutions and related technologies, including Databricks, Azure SQL, Teradata, Power BI, and SSRS. Additional Information This role requires close collaboration with analytics and IT teams throughout design, implementation, and post-implementation validation to ensure enterprise data objectives are met.
