Dell USA L.P. is seeking a Consultant, Data Science for it's Round Rock, TX facility.
Duties:
Architect and lead the development of enterprise-scale AI/ML & GenAI solutions (LLM-based systems, recommendation engines) for Dell's business and customers. Design and build scalable, efficient and automated processes for large-scale data analysis, machine-learning/GenAI model development, model validation and servings. Retrieve, analyze, and process complex datasets. Build proof-of-concepts and identify opportunities to address new business problems. Conduct and oversee experimentation to improve AI/ML model performance - (A/B tests, prompt engineering, alignment methods, hyperparameter tuning). Lead brainstorming on GenAI/ML use cases; mentor Data Scientists in
LLM & AI
best practices; establish technical standards. Liaise and collaborate with leading academics, industry experts, and highly skilled engineers to bring GenAI advances into Dells systems - Agentic AI, Knowledge Graphs etc. Drive innovation with advanced model development and large-scale optimizations, including - embeddings, LLM fine-tuning, search, RAG, LLM as a judge. Communicate complex AI/ML & GenAI architectures, risks, and outcomes to executives and cross-functional teams. Define business problems, outcomes, guardrails, KPIs with stakeholders. Set AI/ML product vision & roadmap. Plan and prioritize projects, maintaining a clear engineering backlog. Coordinate cross-functional delivery scope, timelines, staffing, risks, dependencies. Oversee and review technical designs and decision logic across the team; define and uphold the north-star solution flow to ensure consistent, scalable delivery. Develop talent & standards - mentor, interview, set quality bars. Champion an experimentation and data-driven culture across teams. Facilitate an innovation pipeline for the team. Represent Dell externally, Contribute to IP & institutional knowledge patents, playbooks, talks, articles. Track adoption and business value of shipped AI/ML solutions; surface insights & recommend next bets. Evaluate GenAI vendors and open-source options; make build-vs-buy recommendations.
Requirements:
Master degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a related field and 5 years of experience in data science, business analytics, or a related occupation Alternatively, Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a related field and 7 years of experience in data science, business analytics, or a related occupation.
Requires experience with:
LLM Architectures, Prompt Engineering, RAG implementation, LLM Fine-tuning (LoRA, or QLoRA), or LLM Evaluations;Applying Core AI/ML including Deep Learning, Recommendation Engines, Embeddings, MLOps/GenAIOps, Model Validation, A/B Testing, Hyperparameter Tuning, Traditional Machine Learning (XGboost, Classification, Regression, Clustering, Forecasting and Support Vectors), Statistics, Optimization, Model Explainability and Interpretability (LIME or SHAP);Programming with Python (PyTorch or TensorFlow, and Hugging Face), Advanced SQL, and Git proficiency;Designing and developing enterprise-scale AI/ML & GenAI solutions, including MLOps pipelines;Using one major cloud AI/ML platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Distributed Systems, or Big Data Technologies (e.g., Spark).; and Applying model deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, and MLFlow), Feature Store, Data and Model Drift Monitoring, and Performance optimization (multi-threading, vectorization and quantization).
