Job Description

We are working with a small prop trading firm looking to bring on a data specialist to join their lean team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and work in a veryspecialized focus. The prop trading firm is heavily focused on sports trading so anyone who qualifies and has a passion for sports, please apply below.
Key responsibilities:
In this role, you will support quantitative teams by helping them locate and access the data they need. This includes pointing them to the right datasets, creating example queries or notebooks to guide their work, and developing reusable tools that simplify data access. You will take ownership of how datasets are cataloged and documented-clarifying what tables exist, their contents, how they connect, and establishing sensible conventions based on downstream usage. You will also be responsible for managing and improving data pipelines. This involves writing and maintaining code that ingests, processes, and relocates data, as well as performing necessary cleaning and standardization tasks across diverse data sources. Maintaining stability and reliability of these processes over time is essential. When enhancements to data storage or retrieval are needed, you'll collaborate with DevOps to implement those changes.
Ideal qualifications:
Strong organizational thinking with a clear understanding of data structures, relationships, and keys Experience documenting and mapping datasets across multiple systems Solid SQL skills, including performance tuning and efficient query design Proficiency in Python (or a similar language) for building and maintaining data workflows Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences Consistent and dependable availability Preferred experience: Background working in data-heavy sectors (e.g., finance, advertising technology, sports analytics) Exposure to analytical or column-oriented database systems Experience with data modeling or designing database schemas Familiarity with leveraging AI tools to improve internal data querying and exploration
