Job Description:
Job Requirements General Summary Abstracts specific patient information from a range of resources, including medical records, and codes information into a database according to prescribed protocol, maintaining and editing data for accuracy and completeness. Maintains record keeping systems and procedures for clinical studies Mission All employees are responsible for extending the mission and values of Baltimore Washington Medical Center by dedicating oneself to providing the highest quality healthcare services to the communities we serve. Work Experience Qualifications Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred Completion of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology courses required. Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification or Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) eligible required. Working Conditions Works inside a clean, well-lit office environment. May be expected to work past normal tour of duty, if need arises. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observation of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. Physical Requirements Manual dexterity for operating equipment and computers, visual acuity for viewing display monitors and reading patient charts. Acute hearing to assimilate oral communication from patients, physicians, other health care providers and family members.
