GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of Information Services team, maintain Transitions Projects' Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and other data and reporting systems. Provide support and assistance to the Data Analyst and Director of Public Policy and Funding for essential metric design, data collection, and report preparation and submission. Ensure accurate and on time internal and external reporting to programs and funders. Provide technical support to staff using data systems, train staff, maintain data integrity, run routine reports, and develop new reports as needed. Focus and duties may be adjusted at any time.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)user accounts. Respond to HMIS users' technical questions and support requests. Correct data as needed and train the Data Specialist I on report creation and operation. Provide ongoing staff training related to data systems and reporting processes. Provide primary support with data correction and data improvement projects. Plan and execute data improvement projects in collaboration with staff across departments. Run and distribute reports. Develop new reports as needed for ad hoc and scheduled reporting. Maintain monthly tracking of standard program benchmarks. Help curate and maintain Client Management Information System (CMIS) records. Utilize documentation and training materials provided by the Homeless Services Department (HSD) HMIS Department for CMIS and other data systems. Perform other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Each Transition Projects employee must: Acquire First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire and be retested biannually thereafter throughout employment. Complete Bloodborne Pathogens and Narcan Training within 30 days of hire and be retested annually thereafter throughout employment. Demonstrate reliability by being present for work as scheduled, arriving and leaving on time and taking breaks in expected time frames. Interact effectively with individuals of different backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives, treating each person with respect and dignity. Attend agency and program staff meetings.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff and interaction with the general public. Hearing adequate for telephone work. Vision adequate for close work. Hand and finger dexterity adequate to operate standard office equipment. Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, reach, stoop, pull, squat, and climb stairs and ladders. Sitting at a desk completing paperwork and working on a computer for lengthy periods. Ability to perform CPR and other emergency life-saving care with the assistance of teammates until emergency responders arrive. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and is able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways. Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Accounting, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Information Technology, and 1-2 years of relevant work experience; OR 4 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of experience developing internal and external reports. Training or experience in data analysis and data-based report generation. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in the delivery of services to clients. Excellent computer skills. Demonstrated ability to use word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, and Internet programs, as well as familiarity with various reporting tools and technologies (SQL and advanced Excel skills highly desirable). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal relationship skills. Demonstrated understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, mental health, domestic violence and sexual assault. Experience working with homeless/low-income population preferred but not required. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
