Job Description

Summary Registers and follows patients with a diagnosis of malignancy; retrieves and analyzes registry data and disseminates data in accordance with professional ethics. Minimum Qualifications Must be credentialed by the National Cancer Registrars Association and hold an active Oncology Data Specialist (ODS, ODS-C, or ODS-Certified) credential or be eligible for certification Must obtain Oncology Data Specialist (ODS, ODS-C, or ODS-Certified) credential within one year Preferred Qualifications One to three years of previous tumor registry experience. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), in conjunction with Oncology Data Specialist (ODS, ODS-C, or ODS-Certified) credential, or eligibility. Essential Functions Exemplifies St. Clair Hospital's Customer Service Behavioral Expectations in all interactions. Treats customers with respect, compassion, and hospitality; anticipates, identifies, and responds to individual needs; makes a positive first impression by acknowledging customers; and demonstrates flexibility while maintaining priorities. Responsible for data collection, including but not limited to case finding, abstracting, coding, and follow-up in addition to protocol studies for the American College of Surgeons and Pennsylvania (ACOS) Cancer Program. Assembles and disseminates data, statistical reports, incidence data, and graphs to appropriate agencies. Coordinates activities with Cancer Committee, organizes all aspects of weekly Cancer Care Conferences, and assists Cancer Committee in criteria development, study design, and completion. Works in conjunction with Oncology Registry Supervisor to design and prepare the annual report required by the ACOS for accreditation of the Cancer Program.
