Master Data Specialist - Bill of Material Edwardsville, IL •
MUST LIVE IN THE GREATER ST. LOUIS, MO AREA
Job Description This contracted Master Data Specialist role supports a governance team as they prepare for a major ERP implementation by centralizing and cleaning production-related master data. The position focuses on harmonizing bills of materials and related data across multiple plants, ensuring consistency, completeness, and accuracy in preparation for integration into enterprise systems. The role operates primarily remotely, with occasional on-site work in the St. Louis or Illinois area. Responsibilities Support the governance team in master data initiatives related to an upcoming ERP implementation. Consolidate and standardize master data from multiple plants that currently operate independently with different part numbers for the same parts. Analyze and clean bills of materials (BOMs) and other production data to remove inconsistencies and ensure alignment across locations. Work closely with the Quality Manager to receive, pull, and validate BOM details and other production-related information. Review incoming data from Excel spreadsheets and determine whether the information is complete, accurate, and usable. Transform and format data from Excel into structures and spreadsheets that the organization's systems can read and process. Identify data gaps, discrepancies, and inconsistencies, and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve them. Handle large and complex data sets, ensuring data integrity and traceability throughout the cleanup and centralization process. Operate effectively in situations where requirements or data may be incomplete or ambiguous, making sound judgments and asking clarifying questions as needed. Contribute to the overall success of the ERP implementation by ensuring that production, BOM, recipe, and quality data are reliable and standardized. Essential Skills Experience working with production data sets such as bills of materials (BOMs), recipes, and quality-related data. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build and use pivot tables and lookup functions. Strong comfort and accuracy working with large data sets and numerical information. Ability to assess data completeness and quality and make appropriate decisions based on findings. Comfort working in ambiguous situations and navigating "grey areas" where all details may not be defined. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to data validation and cleanup. Effective communication skills for collaborating with quality and operations stakeholders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with ERP systems is a plus. Bachelor's degree is a plus. Experience working for a manufacturing-based company is a plus. Background in data governance, data management, or master data initiatives is beneficial. Familiarity with bills of materials, recipes, and production processes is advantageous. Work Environment This is a contract role estimated to last approximately 6 to 9 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. The position is primarily remote, offering flexibility in daily work location. However, the specialist must be local to the St. Louis or Illinois area and able to work from an office location approximately one day every other week. The work environment is focused on preparing for a large-scale ERP implementation, with significant interaction with production, quality, and governance stakeholders. The role involves extensive use of Microsoft Excel and other data tools to manage and transform production and master data. The setting emphasizes collaboration, data accuracy, and the ability to work independently while handling complex and sometimes ambiguous data challenges. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Edwardsville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
