Data Center Technician Location :
Huntsville, AL We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the operational integrity of our data center infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure seamless network connectivity, equipment functionality, and security systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of our data center environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about technology, telecommunications, and hands-on technical work to grow their career in a fast-paced, innovative setting. Responsibilities Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Ethernet switches, and VoIP systems to ensure optimal performance. Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using hand tools and power tools to establish reliable telecommunications links. Conduct routine inspections of data center hardware, electrical systems, and low voltage wiring in accordance with NEC standards. Maintain detailed schematics, diagrams, and documentation for all installed systems and network configurations. Support field service activities by diagnosing issues on-site with telecommunication equipment, computer hardware, and network infrastructure. Execute equipment repairs or replacements promptly to minimize downtime while adhering to safety protocols. Monitor CCTV security systems and assist with physical security measures within the data center environment. Skills Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet cabling (Cat5, Cat6), and network installation procedures. Experience working with Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya telephony systems, and VoIP technology. Proficiency in fiber splicing techniques and cabling standards for telecommunications infrastructure. Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to electrical and telecommunication systems. Ability to use hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, ohmmeters for troubleshooting electrical circuits and testing connectivity. Prior service technician experience in data centers or similar environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems compliant with NEC regulations; experience with power tools is a plus. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
