Sr. Data Centre Engineer (L3)
Location:
B rea , C A (on-site) Employment type:
Contract Travel Requirements:
Travel to Las Vegas, NV , approximately 2-3 times per quarter
Position Summary:
Sr. Data Center Engineer responsible for broad data center operations from physical and environmental perspectives. This includes the physical security (facility, access control, monitoring system), environmental (Diesel Gen, ATS, UPS, PDUs, CRACs, and safety systems), space management (racking and stacking, heat distribution), and planning. An in-person interview may be required during the hiring process Responsibilities Environmental management & maintenance: a) M onitor and respond to DC environmental, security and other alerts. b) P erform periodical testing and maintenance upkeep activities based on best practice and manufacturer recommendations, c) P lan, schedule, coordinate and perform timely part repair and c omponent replacement (e.g., battery) Manage the performance of the data center facility. Provide long-term DC planning for major equipment replacement, technology upgrade, and capacity (space, power and cooling, etc. ) expansion. Respond to the technology transformation in density and cabling. Work with management to build & execute the budget accordingly. Establish and enforce Data Center operating procedures. Perform day to day operations such as: Rack & stack, cabling, physical inventory, security monitoring. Collaborate with other IT teams for DC activities according to established operating procedures. Manage vendor relationships, maintenance contracts and vendor engagements. Regular attendance at work on a full-time schedule of at least 8 hours and 40 hours per week Other functions may be assigned
Qualifications :
Minimum:
BA or equivalent relevant industrial experience i n the data center management field
Experience:
Minimum:
5+ years of experience with people and process management in a data center environment
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of industry data center standards, policies & methodologies Basic familiarity w ith ASHRAE guidelines for data centers Passion for customer success and experience interacting with other technology teams Experience providing detailed reports related to incidence and SLA s Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize data effectively Ability to create and manage detailed schematics and data center design documentation
