Role Description The Database Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing database systems that support Starbucks' business operations in Colorado and beyond. Daily tasks include monitoring database performance, implementing backups and recovery procedures, managing user access and security, and ensuring data integrity. The Database Administrator will design and update database schemas, handle data migrations, and support replication across environments. The role also involves diagnosing and resolving database issues, collaborating with application and infrastructure teams, and documenting database configurations and processes. Qualifications Strong skills in Database Administration and Databases to manage, secure, and optimize production environments. Experience with Database Design and Replication to support scalable, high-availability architectures. Proficiency in Troubleshooting to identify, analyze, and resolve performance and reliability issues. Hands-on experience with major RDBMS platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and related tools. Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, indexing, query optimization, and database security best practices. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and communicate complex concepts clearly. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) and working in cloud or hybrid environments is beneficial.
