Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to manage and optimize large-scale PostgreSQL databases, primarily within AWS RDS environments. The role will focus on database administration, performance optimization, security, high availability, disaster recovery, and automation. The ideal candidate will have extensive PostgreSQL expertise, strong PL/pgSQL development experience, and the ability to collaborate closely with application and engineering teams to support critical data infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Manage, configure, and optimize large-scale PostgreSQL databases within AWS RDS environments.
- Design and implement database schemas, access patterns, and database architecture strategies.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization to support high-volume applications.
- Monitor database health, capacity, availability, and overall system performance.
- Implement and maintain database security, access controls, and data protection practices.
- Design and support high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and DevOps processes for database administration.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues and identify root causes of performance and availability problems.
- Develop, review, and optimize complex PL/pgSQL functions, procedures, and other database objects.
- Collaborate with application development and engineering teams on new features, database enhancements, and application integrations.
- Support database deployments, upgrades, configuration changes, and production releases. Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of strong, relevant experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator supporting large-scale applications.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS RDS for PostgreSQL, including setup, configuration, administration, and management.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience developing and reviewing complex PL/pgSQL functions, procedures, and database objects.
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL database performance tuning and optimization.
- Strong understanding of database security, access management, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with database monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity management.
- Strong scripting and automation skills for database administration and operational tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with application, engineering, and infrastructure teams.
