Description:
Security Systems Technician / Security Specialist Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Security Systems Technician to support the installation, programming, commissioning, testing, and customer training of security and low-voltage systems. This role involves working on projects ranging from small system upgrades to large-scale installations, ensuring systems are fully operational and meet customer expectations. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Install, program, test, and troubleshoot security, access control, CCTV, fire alarm, and other low-voltage systems. Perform system startup, commissioning, inspections, and final project verification to ensure functionality and quality standards. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to complete installations accurately. Train end users on system operation and provide outstanding customer support throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain project documentation and communicate effectively with customers, project teams, and supervisors. Travel to customer sites as needed to support installations, service calls, and project implementation. Qualifications Experience with security systems, fire alarm systems, or other low-voltage technologies. Strong troubleshooting and programming capabilities. Mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools. Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally, with occasional overnight travel. Preferred Experience History in construction, low-voltage installation, security systems, or related technical fields. Experience with system commissioning, certification, and customer training.

Intermediate (2+ years preferred) Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbandale, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
