The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server environments in a secure government setting and will ensure data integrity, availability, and performance of mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities:
Administer, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (2016 and newer) in both on-premises and virtualized environments Monitor database performance and proactively optimize queries, indexes, and system resources Ensure high availability and disaster recovery planning, including backups, replication, and failover Support database design, implementation, and migration efforts Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to design efficient data structures and integrations Apply DoD STIGs and other cybersecurity requirements to databases and related systems Perform database security administration in accordance with DoD and Army cybersecurity policies Document database architecture, standards, processes, and procedures Participate in audits, inspections, and security accreditation activities as required Provide support for data import/export, ETL processes, and reporting solutions (e.g., SSRS, Power BI integration) Qualifications Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or higher) 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA in a government or enterprise environment Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server (2016+), including SSMS, T-SQL, and SQL Agent Experience with backup/recovery strategies and high availability configurations Working knowledge of DoD STIGs, RMF, and other federal information assurance requirements Familiarity with database monitoring and performance tuning tools Strong understanding of Windows Server OS and networking fundamentals
Preferred:
Experience supporting U.S. Army or other DoD organizations Microsoft Azure Certifications CompTIA Security+ or higher (for IAT Level II compliance) Experience with PowerShell scripting or other automation tools Knowledge of cloud-based or hybrid SQL solutions (e.g., Azure SQL)
Compensation:
$98,000 to $108,000
