Job Description

Data Center Technician Introduction This position involves the installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment. The Data Center Technician will be responsible for delivering sustainable solutions, providing feedback on project progress, ensuring quality workmanship, and collaborating with various stakeholders to overcome project obstacles. Responsibilities Installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure Deliver sustainable solutions and processes Provide feedback on project progress to stakeholders Maintain Data Center cleanliness Follow production, safety, and quality standards Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation Understand Data Center infrastructure technologies Requirements Required Skills Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools Understanding of job safety requirements Ability to read and understand floor plans Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing Experience in pulling low voltage cables Capability to perform field terminations and labeling Ability to work in Data Centers Basic understanding of copper and fiber cable testing Experience in ladder racking and seismic bracing installation Proficiency in fiber trunk dressing and splicing Knowledge of network equipment installation and connection Operation of testing equipment like
DSX 5000
tester/OTDR Tester Experience in creating mass labels and applying per Portmap Ability to differentiate live cables from decom cables Understanding of copper testing and troubleshooting Capability to conduct service swaps of networking devices Knowledge of database operation and scanner use Preferred Skills Fusion Splicing experience Experience in operating testers and downloading test results Ability to save test results, verify, and submit to the customer Physical Requirements Primarily walking, standing, and bending for extended periods with some sitting Effective communication skills Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment Able to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds Ability to pull cables Capability to climb ladders
