N/A Ryan Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Support Operator to support day-to-day data center operations, hardware maintenance, and infrastructure support activities in a fast-paced enterprise environment. This role is responsible for assisting with server installations, rack and stack activities, cabling, hardware troubleshooting, inventory management, and incident response coordination while working closely with Data Center personnel, Systems Administrators, OEM vendors, and IT support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate with Data Center personnel to install components into existing equipment, install new equipment into racks, and make all cable connections for equipment delivered to the Data Center Coordinate with Data Center personnel to move any equipment into, within, between, or out of supported Data Center facilities Coordinate with Data Center personnel to un-rack, remove HDD's, harvest critical components, and prepare for salvage any equipment that has reached end of life Coordinate with AERO IT and Hosting Services Leads and Systems Analyst to harvest critical spare parts from surplus/salvage equipment. Maintain inventory of parts in a controlled environment; provide tracking and utilization reports Provide vendor escort on the plant or in the data center for the delivery or servicing of equipment as needed Respond to ITSM incident tickets, including on call / afterhours support Work with System Admin, AERO Hosting Services, and OEM to use AERO IT existing part inventories, OEM provided spares, or RYAN Purchased parts to repair and return to service failed server hardware Work with OEM to coordinate OEM repair activities (warranty or T&M) to include contacting the OEM and open incident, and coordinate OEM repair technician on-site arrival, temporary badging and escorting as needed Communicate status and escalate as needed to minimize Return to Service time and meet incident response goals Update ITSM on incident status timely. Coordinate with Data Center personnel to install components into existing equipment, install new equipment into racks, and make all cable connections for equipment delivered to the Data Center Update Spares Inventory tracking tools as needed Update Asset management DB (AskIT) as needed Work with Systems Administrator to diagnose issues and return to service failed server hardware.
Requirements:
1-2 years of experience in a Data Center Environment Technical familiarity with all computing, networking and storage technologies. Experience with installation of server components, including
RAM, HDD, PCI
cards and processors. Working Knowledge of Data Center Operations and procedures.
Skills include:
Proficient verbal and written communication skills MCSE, MCSA, A+, Network + or CCNA certifications Knowledge of the IEEE and manufacturers cabling specifications Be able to work under short deadlines and pressure situations with accuracy Basic understanding of Electrical and HVAC mechanical systems and how they impact raised floor capacity Know how to analyze and troubleshoot Ethernet and fiber cable problems Knowledge of Operating System commands of UNIX and Windows environments Knowledge of Server Hardware troubleshooting methodologies and onboard diagnostic tools Ability to safely handle and install internal server components Experience with various Server OEM incident reporting systems and procedures Ability to lift 50 lbs. to top of computer rack Perform system diagnostics to various types of servers Clear understanding of SAN and disk architecture Clear understanding of network protocols and services Ability to take direction and work in a team environment. Ability to use basic hand tools to install / uninstall computing equipment into racks Be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
