Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the operational integrity of data center infrastructure, ensuring seamless network connectivity, hardware functionality, and security systems. Your expertise will help optimize data center performance, troubleshoot technical issues efficiently, and support ongoing installation and maintenance projects. Duties Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Ethernet switches, and VoIP systems to ensure optimal performance. Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as Ohmmeters to maintain high-quality connections. Conduct routine inspections of data center hardware, electrical systems, and low voltage wiring in compliance with NEC standards. Support field service activities by diagnosing equipment issues, repairing servers or networking gear, and replacing faulty components. Manage CCTV surveillance systems and security devices to monitor facility safety; assist with Schematics interpretation for system layouts. Assist with network installation projects involving Cat5, Cat6 cabling, telephony systems like Avaya, and telecommunication infrastructure upgrades. Document all maintenance activities, system configurations, schematics updates, and incident reports accurately for record-keeping purposes. Qualifications Proven experience as a Service Technician or in a similar IT/Data Center role with hands-on knowledge of computer networking and equipment repair. Strong understanding of computer hardware components, electrical wiring standards (NEC), and low voltage systems. Familiarity with network protocols such as LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet standards, VLANs, and routing concepts. Experience working with Cisco routers, Juniper devices, VoIP telephony (including Avaya systems), and fiber splicing techniques. Ability to use hand tools like crimpers, wire strippers, multimeters (Ohmmeters), power tools safely and effectively. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Valid electrical or telecommunication certifications preferred; prior experience in data center environments highly desirable.
