General Function The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle database systems to ensure high performance, security, and availability. In this role, the Senior Database Administrator will design and implement database schemas, monitors database health, and performs routine backups and recovery operations to safeguard mission-critical data. Additionally, the Senior Database Administrator will troubleshoot database-related issues, manage user access and permissions, and optimize queries to enhance system performance. In this role, the individual will ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards while staying current on updates, patches, and advancements in Oracle technologies. The Database Admin will build, support, administer, and sustain a clustered-server database platform hosted in an enterprise IT environment. The Database Administrator will provide technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions. Investigate hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and perform corrective actions. Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities) Architects, designs, engineers, and document Oracle databases and associated infrastructure in clustered, stand-alone, and/or appliance-hosted configurations, which fulfill mission requirements, service specifications, and cyber security mandates Investigates hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and perform corrective actions Implements robust backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies Monitors, fine-tune, and optimize database performance for minimal downtime and maximum efficiency Establishes and enforces stringent database security protocols and access controls Collaborate closely with application development teams to design and optimize Oracle databases.
