Job Summary As a Database Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, security, maintenance, and operation of enterprise database systems and related toolsets. You will assist with database performance tuning, capacity planning, backup and recovery, security and access controls, patch management, test data management, data refreshes, SQL reporting, testing, deployments, and operational support. Our Database Engineers support SQL, Oracle, and cloud database infrastructure while focusing on the performance of both databases and application code. Monitoring, process automation, and continuous improvement are key to the success of our team, FCSAmerica, and ultimately our customers. As an intern, you will collaborate with experienced teammates and contribute to meaningful database administration and engineering work in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service and Operational Response Help deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality support for database-related incidents, service requests, and operational issues. Assist with diagnosing database issues, troubleshooting root causes, and implementing effective resolutions. Document incidents, resolutions, procedures, and technical knowledge in the appropriate tracking and support systems. Collaborate with technical teams and business partners to help ensure service expectations are met or exceeded. Learn how the team supports critical database systems through its 24x7 on-call rotation; interns are not expected to independently provide after-hours coverage. Database Administration and Engineering Help maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing database environments. Support database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and routine administration. Assist with provisioning, tuning, backups, recovery, replication, and system optimization. Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes. Monitor performance, capacity, availability, security, and operational efficiency. Follow database administration, security, and maintenance standards. Assist with database access and permissions. Education Requirements Currently pursuing a bachelors or master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Agribusiness, Information Technology or similar degree preferred Effective communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) Available for a 12-week internship during the summer Intern Benefits Competitive hourly wage and $500 sign-on bonus.
