Job Description
Local Data Center Technician The Opportunity Prime Connected is looking for an experienced Data Center Technician to support one of our dedicated customers in the Omaha area. This is a local, hands-on position working exclusively at the same customer site rather than traveling between projects. You'll handle service tickets, installations, equipment changes, and day-to-day infrastructure needs within an active data center environment. We're looking for someone who can troubleshoot confidently, adapt when the obvious solution doesn't work, and find creative ways to solve problems while maintaining data center standards. What You'll Do In this role, you will respond to assigned service tickets and complete a variety of data center installation and support work, including: Pulling, routing, terminating, and testing category cable Installing and replacing network switches Performing rack-and-stack work for network and server equipment Installing equipment, cabling, and supporting infrastructure Working with pre-terminated fiber and completing fiber testing Troubleshooting connectivity, cabling, and equipment issues Maintaining accurate ticket notes and documenting completed work Labeling and organizing cabling according to customer standards Identifying challenges and developing practical, creative solutions Coordinating with the customer and internal team to complete work safely and efficiently What We're Looking For The right person will have 2+ years hands-on experience in data centers, low-voltage cabling, network infrastructure, or a closely related environment. You should be comfortable working independently, managing incoming tickets, and communicating professionally with the customer. You'll also need: Experience with category cable, fiber, rack-and-stack, and equipment installations Familiarity with network switches and structured cabling systems The ability to test, troubleshoot, and identify the source of technical issues Familiarity with Fluke Network Testing Strong attention to detail, particularly with labeling and documentation The ability to think outside the box and adapt when conditions change A dependable, customer-focused approach The ability to lift and position equipment and work on ladders as needed A valid driver's license and reliable transportation The ability to pass required criminal and financial background screenings, consistent with applicable law and customer requirements Compensation This position pays $30-$40 per hour , depending on experience and demonstrated skill level.
