Full-time, Monday-Friday business hours. Rotating after-hours and weekend windows for upgrades, migrations, and emergency response. Businesses in hospitality, healthcare, legal, finance, retail, and non-profit sectors hand us their day-to-day IT operations like help desk, networks, servers, Microsoft 365, security, backup, so, their internal teams can focus on their own work. Our clients range from a handful of seats to environments with real complexity, and very few of them look alike. Why we're hiring Database operations have grown steadily across our client base, driven by expanding data volumes, more complex line-of-business applications, and client expectations around availability and recovery. We are adding a dedicated Database Administrator to establish database operations as a defined discipline within our service delivery, owning performance, reliability, security, and recovery across every managed environment, rather than addressing database work reactively alongside other infrastructure responsibilities. What the work actually looks like A typical week splits across several client environments rather than one deep system: Administering SQL Server and PostgreSQL instances hosted both on client premises and in cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL) Chasing down performance problems at the query and index level, reading execution plans, fixing statistics, rewriting the worst offenders where we have permission Running backup and recovery programs end to end, including scheduled restore tests, not just verified backup jobs Handling patching and version upgrades on maintenance windows we schedule and communicate in advance Reviewing schemas and data models proposed by application vendors and our own engineering staff Investigating alerts from monitoring tools before they become client-visible outages Documenting every environment we manage well enough that another engineer could pick it up mid-incident Occasionally driving to a client's office in the valley for work that genuinely can't be done remotely Skills you need to bring Four or more years administering production databases Deep SQL Server experience: backup strategies, Always On availability groups, and performance tuning in real production conditions Working PostgreSQL experience, including replication and maintenance operations PowerShell or Python scripting for automation; we'd rather you build the repetitive task than do it monthly by hand A disciplined approach to documentation and change communication Reliable transportation for occasional local client visits What strengthens an application AWS or Azure database certifications Experience in PCI-DSS or HIPAA-regulated environments Familiarity with monitoring platforms we may already have deployed, such as Datadog or Zabbix Exposure to MongoDB or DynamoDB Prior MSP or multi-tenant experience Compensation $105,000-$115,000 depending on experience and certifications, plus: Health, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off and holidays 401(k) with company match Certification exam fees and training covered To apply Apply with your resume and tell us about a database incident you handled and what you changed afterward.
