We currently operate on an on-premise manufacturing ERP running on a Firebird 3.0 database (approx. 14 GB across 250+ tables). Internal reporting is driven by a legacy dashboard built in Visual Basic 6.0 (VB6), Microsoft Access, and ODBC connections. The ideal candidate will quickly master our existing legacy environment, document data flows, recommend a modernized path forward, and lead the technical execution.

Key ResponsibilitiesPhase 1:

Map data flows between the core ERP, Firebird database, legacy VB6/Access dashboard, and EDI invoicing infrastructure.
Database Audit:
Identify custom tables/queries, resolve duplicate or inconsistent records, repair missing keys, and extract business logic embedded in legacy reports or spreadsheets.
System Health Check:
Review database maintenance, automated backups, file growth trends, and database version status.
Knowledge Capture:
Interview key internal stakeholders across Engineering, Accounting, Sales, and Production to document legacy logic and operational workflows.
Strategic Recommendation:
Present a comprehensive plan (including cost, timeline, and risk analysis) choosing one of the following paths:

Maintain the current ERP, clean core data, and replace the legacy dashboard.

Maintain the current ERP and build a separate, well-modeled reporting database to power dashboards.

Replace the legacy ERP with a new enterprise system and execute the data migration.

Phase 2: Remediation & ExecutionLead the selected technical roadmap from design and architecture through system cutover.

Establish automated database maintenance, tested backup procedures, monitoring, and upgrade schedules.
