Limited Duration ending 6/30/2027, Full-time, Exempt We are seeking a Database Analyst/Developer (Information Systems Specialist 7) to join our Office of Finance and Information Technology (OFIT) at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a limited duration position ending 6/30/2027 and represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will be required when business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources. Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection and maintain a professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they would in the office. What you will do! The Oregon Department of Education is seeking a Database Analyst/Developer to maintain and evolve the enterprise data/application resources for the Department of Education. Minimum Qualifications:
ODE reviews resumes to determine whether applicants meet the minimum qualifications for this position. (a) Six (6) years of information systems experience in: Complex joins and subqueries Optimizing queries and indexing strategies Creating stored procedures, triggers, views ETL experience (SSIS) Understanding of performance tuning Working with large datasets OR (b) An Associate's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or Database administration or SQL Server programming field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in: Complex joins and subqueries Optimizing queries and indexing strategies Creating stored procedures, triggers, views ETL experience (SSIS) Understanding of performance tuning Working with large datasets OR (c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: Complex joins and subqueries Optimizing queries and indexing strategies Creating stored procedures, triggers, views ETL experience (SSIS) Understanding of performance tuning Working with large datasets OR (d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above. Microsoft SQL Server:
including complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, stored procedures, views, and functions Demonstrated experience in relational data modeling: including normalization principles, logical vs. physical design, and translating business rules into maintainable structures Experience with database object standards and version control: demonstrated ability to ensure database objects follow naming conventions, documentation practices, and version control requirements Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve query and schema performance issues: including isolating root causes and applying logical troubleshooting rather than trial and error Experience participating in solution design discussions: including communicating tradeoffs, proposing practical solutions, and engaging early when requirements shift Experience designing and deploying database solutions in a production environment: including full lifecycle involvement from initial design through deployment and post-deployment support We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job.
