Senior Database Engineer / DBA Oracle OCI No C2C or Visa Offered Candidates must be located in Northeast Ohio. No relocation assistance available. The Senior Database Engineer / DBA Oracle OCI Opportunity A well-established technology company in NE Ohio is looking for a Senior Database Engineer to own their Oracle OCI and SQL environments. This isn't a passive DBA Engineering role

• you'll work directly alongside software development teams, shape data architecture decisions, and lead projects like audit trail re-implementation, large-scale data retention and purge operations across billions of records, and the build-out of reporting and process utilities.

They run approximately 85% of their infrastructure on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and have been in the cloud for three years. The environment is mature, active, and evolving, the work here is real and consequential. What You'll Own Support production Oracle, SQL and PostgreSQL databases with a focus on stability and performance Partner with development teams to design new tables, data structures, and database-layer changes Lead the re-implementation of audit trails, tracking old and new values across configuration and transaction tables Build and manage data retention and purge processes across billions of records Write and maintain shell and Perl scripts to automate database operations and data movement Process result files and report data back into the order management system Build utility tools to move, transform, and communicate data across systems Run production tickets and manage database changes through proper controls Support data compliance, retention standards, and audit readiness Collaborate with a data warehouse resource and a global support team The Tech Stack Core (Required) Oracle (production DBA experience

• tuning, partitioning, RMAN, AWR) PostgreSQL / Postgres
• both production support and dev-side schema work Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• 85% of the environment lives here Strong SQL
• complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning Shell scripting and Perl for automation and data workflows SQL Developer, DBeaver, or JetBrains data tools Nice to Have Data warehouse experience Power BI or reporting tool familiarity Exposure to AI tooling in a database or data engineering context What We're Looking For 5+ years of Oracle Data Engineering / DBA or database engineering experience•production-grade, not just dev support Hands-on PostgreSQL experience•schema design, queries, and production support OCI or comparable cloud database platform experience Scripting skills in Shell and/or Perl•you automate what others do manually Comfort working directly with developers•you're a partner, not just a gatekeeper Experience with data retention, purge strategies, or audit trail systems•bonus if you've done this at scale Strong communicator•you can explain a database problem to someone who doesn't speak SQL What the Role Offers Up to $150K compensation•based on experience Hybrid schedule•approximately 2 days onsite•the rest is remote Light on-call•roughly 1 weekend per quarter, ~8 hours of coverage Ownership without bureaucracy•50-person tech team means your work has direct impact and visibility Modern cloud environment•85% OCI•you're not maintaining legacy infrastructure for its own sake Cross-functional exposure•you'll work across dev, ops, and data•not siloed in a single lane Interested?
