What to Expect
The Dimensional Quality Engineering Technician is both a practical and analytical position. Under the guidance of Dimensional Quality Engineers, the Engineering Technician will be responsible for creating dimensional reports per CAD and manufacturing requirements, support fixture and gauge certifications and measurements, and support corrective actions/design change requests. The technicians will adhere and support Tesla quality systems and standards. A successful candidate will be able to support corrective action in order to improve dimensional accuracy. A successful candidate will also be able to evaluate data, troubleshoot and support correction of dimensional issues. The Quality Engineering Technician will work closely with Dimensional Quality Engineers, Quality Engineers and the cross-functional team, supporting them with reports, charts, graphs and anything else needed to define, measure, analyze, improve and control product and dimensional quality from their respective shops. The successful candidate must have mechanical aptitude, the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented and be able to both take direction and work independently. The successful candidate will set/coordinate as well as lead supplier onboarding activities/meetings with SIE/Design team. They will lead efforts to define supplier data, set up templates and routines into the CM4D system, as well as provide feedback to correct/update supplier data. They will take ownership of maintaining accurate dimensional data through the system. What You'll Do
Quality Focus Areas:
Body-in-White
Review part and assembly data using data collection software (CM4D, Polyworks, Dataloop)
Coordinate with Quality, Metrology, Production, and Process Teams for measurements and data collection
Support with Gauge and fixture qualifications
Create Dimensional Reports using CM4D software
Support with gauge calibrations and verifications
Support Quality Engineering Team with dimensional requests What You'll Bring
1 or more years of experience in a Manufacturing, Quality, or Process focused role, or equivalent experience
Mechanical inspection experience using basic and precision measurement tools; experience using CATIA, 3DX, CM4D, Polyworks/Dataloop, or Minitab a plus
Experience interpreting data measurement, trends and statistics; ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills along with ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and effectively
