Job Description

[Leapros] Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (CT1/CT2) in El Paso, TX. The Data Center Technician (CT1/CT2) is responsible for supporting the physical infrastructure of hyperscale data centers through structured cabling, hardware installation, and maintenance. This role requires an El Paso-based professional who is willing to travel to Altoona, IA, for an initial 3-6 month assignment before returning to El Paso for long-term local operations.

Per Hour BOE Responsibilities:
Support and complete all scheduled data center Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) including device labeling and power connectivity. Install, route, and secure fiber optic and copper cabling according to design schematics and industry standards. Deploy hardware components including racks, switches, and patch panels within mission-critical environments. Provide smart-hands assistance for troubleshooting fiber connectivity, signal loss, or hardware damage. Perform asset management and auditing, ensuring equipment and cabling are accurately documented in daily work logs. Conduct daily physical inspections of the data center for general health, power distribution, and cooling hazards. Maintain site security protocols and follow strict data protection and retention procedures. Coordinate with project managers and leads to ensure deployment timelines and quality standards are met during both travel and local phases. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in cabling areas, raised floors, and cabinet exteriors. Follow all safety protocols and use proper PPE in high-security and sensitive environments.
Qualifications:
Must be a local resident of the El Paso, TX market with the ability to travel to Altoona, IA for the first 3 to 6 months. 1-3 years of experience in a data center environment, telecommunications, or structured cabling (CT1 or CT2 level). High school diploma or GED equivalency. General knowledge of server and network hardware/components and copper and fiber infrastructure. Ability to read and interpret floor plans, network diagrams, and cable schedules. Proficiency with basic IT hardware installation and network troubleshooting concepts. Strong aptitude for working in an independent environment with high productivity requirements.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move equipment up to 75 pounds. Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder, and in confined spaces. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to see and distinguish different colors for cable identification. Ability to hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones or equipment alarms. Comfortable working in varying temperatures including hot attics and cold data center aisles.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $21 to $30 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
