JOB SUMMARY
The Database Administrator will provide comprehensive database support and services for the WBAMC Database environment, including administration, operations, maintenance, and optimization of all databases. Ensures highest security and security hardening of WBAMC Systems, vulnerability management, Authority to Operate (ATO) Security Technical Implementation Guide support and STIGs through the use of Assured Compliance Assessment (ACAS), System Capabilities Analytic Process (SCAP), BASS, STIG viewer, Enterprise Mission Support Service (eMASS) and other cyber applications and systems. Uses ACAS and reports to manage, identify and resolve missing vulnerabilities and assist in vulnerability management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Documents Database Operations SOPs and providing instructions, procedures, and processes for performing database Operations and Maintenance. Publishes scheduled maintenance information and impact statements. Supports transition to a future WBAMC private cloud enterprise computing solution for database hosting. Provides services for evaluation, planning, requirements analysis, design, optimization, testing, implementation, and sustainment of new and existing mission databases. Database support will include Backup and Recovery, Performance Tuning, Clustering and Security hardening of, but not limited to, MS SQL databases. Assists with new WBAMC projects affecting network operations IAW current Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG). Develops and operates backup and recovery strategies, in accordance with the mission application's requirements. Verifies that storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures are 100% fully tested and functioning correctly. Develops a Database Contingency Plan to assist in the development of enterprise IT Contingency Planning especially as it pertains to database recovery. Confirms IT Contingency Plans through troubleshooting, confirming the ability to recover databases, reload software and confirm database integrity. Updates procedures and documentation and shall make recommendations to improve IT Contingency Planning. Utilizes automated tools, as specified by the Government to: identify database availability, optimize database performance, and resource use, predict impending database problems, provide solutions to correct data base problems, and maximize database throughput. Develops a Database Optimization Report for implementing methodologies to enforce standardization and flexibility across the enterprise, and provide strategic database direction, implementation of future database version releases, and reporting metrics for the enterprise. Ensures documentation on assigned systems are kept up to date and works with Cyber to ensure the RMF packages in eMASS for the assigned systems are up to date. Takes proactive approaches to ensure database performance, security, and reliability in a 24x7x365 operational environment. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
