Job Description:
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Developer to design, develop, optimize, and maintain enterprise database systems that support complex business applications. This role is responsible for ensuring database stability, reliability, performance, and scalability, while supporting ongoing enhancements, research initiatives, and operational improvements. The ideal candidate will work closely with database personnel, front-end developers, and support teams to deliver high-quality, well-documented, and efficient database solutions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Other duties and tasks may be assigned as needed. Design, develop, and maintain relational database systems to ensure stability, reliability, and optimal performance Design and implement database solutions based on end-user and business requirements Develop, test, and maintain Oracle database objects , including tables, views, triggers, procedures, functions, and packages Refactor and optimize existing database objects to support system enhancements, diagnostics, and research initiatives Investigate and support new technologies to improve and extend existing database capabilities Perform database performance tuning and optimization to improve application performance Prepare and maintain technical documentation for database applications and processes Maintain database source code using version control systems Learn and adopt new programming tools, techniques, and technologies as required Collaborate with database administrators, front-end developers, and customer support teams Provide availability and support during critical production or system issues as needed Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation for future reference Qualifications & Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience Experience & Technical Skills 5+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle relational data modeling, database development, and shell scripting 3+ years of experience with: Oracle Database DDL and DML PL/SQL and SQL Database concepts including tables, views, triggers, procedures, functions, and packages Tools such as SQL•Plus, SQLcl, or SQL Developer Data modeling tools (e.g., SQL Modeler, ERwin, TOAD or similar) Data extraction utilities, Oracle Data Pump, and SQL Loader Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting Experience using database source control systems (e.g., VSS or equivalent) Strong experience with database testing, validation, and performance tuning Proven ability to lead or significantly contribute to database transformation and development projects from concept through successful implementation Demonstrated technical excellence supporting complex or data-intensive user environments Strong proficiency in technical documentation and communicating solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Successful Competency Factors Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication Professionalism and confidentiality Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, leadership, and external organizations Ability to multitask efficiently in a calm and professional manner
