Job Description
Description As a Systems Development Engineer, you will design, build, and operate scalable solutions that improve the security and efficiency of Amazon's data center security operations. You will bring agentic AI and automation to workflows that today rely on manual effort. You will partner with experienced engineers to strengthen our tools, maintain high-availability services, and build metrics and monitoring. Your work will directly support systems that anticipate and resolve operational issues before they reach our customers, delivering a seamless, self-service experience for the teams who keep our data centers secure. You will collaborate with security operations and cross-functional engineering teams to influence technical direction and build resilient, secure systems at scale. - Given a defined problem, you deliver a solution which is logical, maintainable, that uses appropriate technologies, and is delivered on time.
- You learn current engineering best practices and get their designs, code & procedures reviewed, and incorporate feedback.
- You identify and scope problems and opportunities arising from technical discussions, calculate costs of proposed solutions, and make technical trade-offs.
- You contribute to operational excellence and perform troubleshooting to resolve defects.
- You handle all incoming system and service tickets with responsibilities covering multiple products, features and services.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience tools for automation (building, testing, releasing or monitoring) Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on highly concurrent, high throughput systems and knowledge of complex distributed systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals (e.g., data structures & algorithms, OO design)
- Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices
