Job Summary:
The OSP Cable Puller is responsible for the installation of fiber optic and copper telecommunications cables in underground, environments. This role supports outside plant construction by pulling, routing, labeling, and securing cable according to company specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices. The position requires physical labor, teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to all safety procedures.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Install, pull, and route fiber optic and copper cabling in conduits, handholes, and manholes Assist with setting up job sites, including safety equipment, traffic control measures, and material staging. Operate cable-pulling equipment, rodding tools, compressors, and hand tools safely and effectively. Perform lashing, pulling, and racking of aerial cable on utility poles as required. Read and interpret construction prints, route maps, and splice assignments. Complete tasks such as cable tagging, documentation, and material usage reporting. Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all OSHA, company, and utility safety regulations. Support construction crews with trenching, digging, and placement of conduit or handholes as needed. Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and verification of installed cabling. Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Required :
High school diploma or GED. Valid driver s license with acceptable driving record. Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in a physically demanding outdoor environment. Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions. Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
Preferred :
1+ years of experience in OSP construction or telecommunications. Experience working in manholes, handholes, duct systems, and aerial environments. Certifications such as OSHA 10 and confined space Familiarity with fiber optic cable types, pull tensions, and installation standards.
