The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Information Officer I (Specialist) with experience working as a member of a communications team, and with the ability to speak, write, read, and completely be fluent in Spanish. If this is you, then CDI may be the employer for you! Under direction of the Information Officer II, Senior Deputy Press Secretary, the Information Officer I (Specialist),Deputy Press Secretary, plans, writes and edits internal and external communication designed to inform the public of the objectives and advance the goals of the California Department of Insurance (CDI). Activities range from routine to complex and sometimes involve sensitive topics that require a high level of professional judgment and coordination with supervisor(s) and CDI leadership. This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700), which includes an Assuming Office filing within 30 days of appointment, annual filings, and a Leaving Office filing within 30 days of physical separation. Non-compliance with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may result in the voiding of appointment, financial penalties, or enforcement actions. Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386.

Working Conditions The incumbent must be able to work in a high-rise building. The incumbent may be required to exert up to 40lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The incumbent may be required to sit most of the time but may be required to walk or stand for brief periods of time. The incumbent must maintain professionalism and emotional stability under high-stress and political situations. The incumbent must be able to travel on short notice, respond to after-hours requests from executives and media, and overtime as needed for emergency/disaster response. The incumbent may telework in accordance with CDI's Telework Policy. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days.
