OverviewData is a big deal at Atlassian. We ingest billions events each month into our analytics platform and we have dozens of teams across the company depending on the platform to drive their decisions. We are looking for a senior data engineering manager to join our growing Data Engineering Org. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team of engineers focused on designing, building, and scaling foundational analytical data products that power decision-making across the company. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define data strategies, improve data quality and reliability, and deliver reusable data models, pipelines, and platforms that enable analytics at scale. This is a critical leadership role at the intersection of data architecture, engineering excellence, and business impact. Provide deep technical guidance and support the team in driving large projects within complex dependencies and multiple stakeholders.

Collaborate with various stakeholders, gather deep domain expertise, and own delivery of projects across multiple streams.

Collaborate in technical/architectural discussions, provide direction, and drive decision-making.

Inspire innovation and operational excellence within the team and influence other Data Engineering teams.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field of study and at least 6-8 years of experience as an individual contributor in a Data Engineering or related Software Engineering role.

You have 4+ years of experience managing data or related software teams.

You have a track record of driving and delivering large (multi-person or multi-team) and complex projects.

You are a great communicator and maintain many of the essential cross-team and cross-functional relationships necessary for the team's success.
