TRAFFIC DATA UNIT CHIEF - (TECHNICAL MANAGER V)

at Department of Transportation in Springfield, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Determines statewide transportation traffic data needs, formulates the annual traffic surveillance programs to collect data, process, and provide the information necessary to meet these needs. Implement federal directives for data collection, dissemination, and data submittals covering the Traffic Monitoring Guide ( TMG ), and the Federal Performance Measures for Traffic. Determines traffic data collection equipment needs, develops specification and costs, and takes necessary action to procure this equipment for statewide use. Establishes and manages multi-year consultant contracts to supplement the traffic data collection process throughout the state. Operates an equipment repair facility which works statewide to maintain data processing equipment which includes permanently installed continuous count traffic data collection stations. Trains staff throughout the department in traffic data collection procedures and use of the Illinois Roadway Information System ( IRIS ), and other web-based applications. Conduct an annual meeting with users of the traffic data collection and inventory systems. Organizes, motivates, trains, directs, and evaluates subordinate personnel to assure effective and efficient accomplishments of the bureau’s responsibilities. Perform duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a bachelor’s degree majoring in general studies, business, computer science, computer information, computer information systems, engineering, public administration, project management, geographic information systems ( GIS ) or mathematics PLUS three years of experience establishing, monitoring contracts, handling data management activities, GIS , extracting, analyzing, summarizing data, or a combination thereof, OR eleven years of experience establishing and monitoring contracts, handling data management activities, GIS , extra To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
