Data Fabric Silver & Gold Layers Key Requirements & Responsibilities Fabric Lakehouse Setup:

Create separate Lakehouses for Bronze/Silver and a Synapse Data Warehouse or dedicated Lakehouse for Gold. Data Ingestion (Bronze): Raw ingestion via Fabric Pipelines or Eventstreams, retaining source format. Silver Layer Requirements (Cleansed/Conformed):

Data Cleansing:

Remove duplicates, handle NULLs, and fix data types.

Transformation:

Apply business logic to convert raw data into structured, conformed dimensions.

CDC Implementation:

Implement Change Data Capture (CDC) to manage updates and deletes from source systems.

Optimization:

Ensure data is stored in Delta format for ACID transactions and V-Order optimization. Gold Layer Requirements (Curated/Business Ready):

Modeling:

Structure data into star schemas (facts and dimensions) for Power BI optimization.

Aggregation:

Create aggregated tables for performance-intensive reporting.

Security & Governance:

Apply Row-Level Security (RLS) and Column-Level Security (CLS) for data access control.

Business Logic:

Embed complex DAX calculations and business metrics.

Orchestration:

Use Fabric Data Pipelines to schedule data movement across layers. Microsoft Learn +8

Technology Stack Platform:

Microsoft Fabric (OneLake).

Format:

Delta Lake.

Compute:

Spark Notebooks (Data Engineering), SQL Analytics Endpoint.

Modeling:
