SALARY RANGE
$115,000 - $125,000
QUALIFICATIONS- REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree in statistics, computer science, or related field Massachusetts DESE certification highly desirable (Instructional Technology and/or Supervisor); or eligibility to earn credentials Minimum 3 years of related database and systems integrations, and major education technology platforms experience, 5 years preferred Experience supervising staff Demonstrated knowledge of school data and information systems, management, and related systems integration Understanding of educational and organizational data security and reporting requirements Proficient using standard educational software such as Google, ASPEN, TeachPoint, Munis, Talent Ed, Open Architect, ZOOM, Panarama, Naviance, PSNI, Applecare, TEC, Clever, Asset Manager, and other computerized tools utilized in K12 schools Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to a broad range of stakeholders Ability to work collaboratively to address concerns and resolve conflict in a professional, courteous manner Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physically capable of carrying out the daily responsibilities of the office including (but not limited to): consistent attendance; stand; walk; use hands to manage tools and equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and sit for prolonged periods at a desk while working on a computer. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift/or move up to 30 pounds.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Data and Information Systems, the Information Systems Manager ensures all duties and responsibilities associated with district-wide management of staff and student information, technology and communication, and district, state and federal reporting are managed with integrity and accuracy, clarity and consistency, and are performed timely and efficiently.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors and oversees all school administration and student information software and database daily operations, implementation and use Coordinates, facilitates, and ensures seamless data synchronization and interoperability between the core Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and third-party applications including Google TalentEd, Munis, TeachPoint, Open Architect, PSNI, etc. and other ed-tech tools Administers and manages user accounts, user groups, security roles, and password protocols to ensure staff have proper and appropriate access to information Responsible for data governance and security across district information and communication systems consistent with regulatory mandates such as FERPA, HIIPA, Privacy Act, ADA, etc.) Creates, manages, and optimizes a District wide data storage solution that will accommodate and allow secure, seamless access to institutional data assets Conducts routine data audits to identify and fix errors, missing information, or duplicate entries in student and staff databases. Ensures the district complies with educational mandates by accurately preparing and/or reviewing, and ultimately submitting, required state and federal reports (e.g., attendance, demographics, special education, enrollment, state testing, EPMIS, SIMS, evaluation, etc.) Plans, communicates, and executes system rollouts, version upgrades, and routine maintenance to optimize database performance. Works with the Town IT department to develop and implement disaster recovery plans, data backup procedures, and cybersecurity measures to protect confidential school records. Develop and implement plans to ensure PSB systems operate smoothly in the event of a problem Is proficient using, and stays up to date, with District technology software and advises administrators about emerging trends that will positively or negatively impact data and system functionality Works with Director of Data and IS to test and evaluate new system software and/or changes, additions to school/student data information systems Assists the Director with preparing reports, forecasts, data visualizations (dashboards), etc. Creates documentation and conducts professional development for administrators, teachers, and staff Troubleshoots and supports all school administration and student information software and database systems, and coordinates with IT Department for maintenance, upgrade, etc Provides input and feedback to the Director of Data and Information Systems related to policy, process, and procedure effectiveness and efficiency.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages, coordinates, and supervises day-to-day activities of Software Applications Support Specialists (3). Provides periodic timely and constructive observations and evaluations. Offers training and guidance as necessary based on evaluations and departmental needs. Supervises direct reports including hiring, coaching and disciplining staff. Strives to create a high performing, cohesive, customer service oriented team.
Other Responsibilities and Expectations:
Acts as a liaison between the school administration and town departments to communicate and resolve challenges that interfere with the smooth and orderly operation of PSBs data, storage, technology, and information systems. Communicates information timely, frequently, and in a professional manner. Assists the Director of Data and Information Systems with administrative duties and projects as needed.
