Job Description

Job Title:
Lead Data Architect Location:
Waltham, Massachusetts (On-Site)
Job Summary:
We are representing an opportunity for a technically strong architect who can shape the future of a modern data platform and help drive a complex legacy-to-modern migration to completion. Our team is looking for someone who can define standards, reduce unnecessary complexity, and create durable data capabilities that support trusted access, governance, and business value.
Responsibilities:
Own the target-state architecture and technical roadmap for the gas data platform, including sequencing for evolving data and AI capabilities. Set modeling, layering, masking, access, retention, and audit standards to support secure and governed self-service. Lead migration strategy from legacy systems to modern data capabilities, including incremental report migration and the ODS decommissioning path. Design reusable ingestion, API, service, and data onboarding patterns that reduce manual file transfers and support quality, lineage, and control.
Required:
10+ years in data and analytics roles, including 5+ years in a data architecture role on enterprise-scale platforms. Hands-on cloud data platform architecture experience; Snowflake strongly preferred, including warehouse/lakehouse layering, workload design, performance tuning, and consumption cost characteristics. Strong SQL and dimensional/analytical data modeling skills sufficient to review and improve engineering designs. Experience designing ingestion and integration patterns across batch, streaming, file-based, and API sources, plus API and data-service patterns for operational and analytical consumers. Demonstrated experience building governance, data quality, lineage, observability, access control, data masking, retention, and audit into a platform by design. Python, modern data engineering tooling, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD applied to data pipelines, plus experience producing architecture artefacts used for models, standards, reference architectures, and design reviews.
