Data Manager I - Joint Pathology Center The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. United States, Maryland, Silver Spring 606 Stephen Sitter Avenue (Show on map) May 11, 2026 Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Data Manager I to assist with medical coding for a pulmonary and environmental pathology database. This includes responsibilities typical of a pathology medical coder including translating diagnoses and assigning appropriate codes. This is the first of four Data Manager levels. This position will be in support of the Joint Pathology Center (JPC) in Silver Spring, MD. Due to security requirements, this position is only able to consider U.S. Citizens. The position will be in support of the John P. Murtha Cancer Center located at the Joint Pathology Center in Silver Spring, MD. The John P. Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda is a modern, patient-centric, tri-service military healthcare facility. Its comprehensive core of military and civilian oncologists and other cancer-trained clinicians and researchers provide multidisciplinary cancer-care delivery and patient-family support services. Our Cancer Center, the only DoD Cancer Center of Excellence within the Military Health System, offers its patients access to cutting-edge cancer diagnostic and treatment technologies. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals. Ensures timely and accurate accessioning into the Joint Pathology Information Management System (JPIMS) of all cases contributing to the pulmonary registry. Reviews accessioned cases and materials for accuracy and completeness; forwards them to assigned pathology departments, ensuring the transfers are logged into the computer system for tracking purposes. Sorts and files materials received and acknowledged in computer system by JPC accession number. Performs SNOMED and ICD 10 coding. Provides and coordinates processing, usage, storage, and retirement of medical records. Provides data collection forms and analyzes information from users needed for the development or modification of the data collection systems. Interacts with members of the scientific support branch, management staff, and others to accomplish the data collection and quality needs of the study. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of 0-2 years experience required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Certified Processional Coder (CPC) certification preferred.
SNOMED CT
Authoring certification preferred. Knowledge of system analysis and design, SQL, data upload and statistical data set creation for data analysis. Experience with relational databases. Excellent communication skills. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret security clearance. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs. Work Environment This position will take place primarily in an office setting. Compensation The hourly pay range for this position is $22.16 - $31.25.
