RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Advancement Services supports Truman State University's mission by providing leadership for the systems, data, reporting, gift processing, and operational functions that strengthen fundraising and engagement efforts. This position helps ensure that Advancement information is accurate, accessible, and used effectively to support donor relationships, alumni engagement, stewardship, and philanthropic growth. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Advancement Services serves as the operational lead for Advancement's use of Slate and related data processes. In this role, the Director works closely with Advancement colleagues, Information Technology Services (ITS), and the Business Office to ensure Advancement systems, records, reports, and processes support the division's goals. The Director helps define operational needs, maintain data integrity, support users, and ensure Slate serves as the source of truth for Advancement activity, with technical configuration and development support provided by ITS. Advancement Operations, Data and Systems Lead Advancement's efforts to maintain accurate, reliable, and accessible constituent, gift, pledge, engagement, and activity data Establish and follow data standards, procedures, and business processes that support consistent use of Advancement systems Serve as the Advancement office's primary operational lead for Slate, helping ensure it serves as the source of truth for Advancement data and activity Work with ITS to support system configuration, workflow improvements, reporting needs, integrations, and enhancements Translate Advancement business needs into clear process, reporting, and system requirements Support implementation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and adoption of Slate processes used by Advancement staff Reporting, Analysis and Decision Support Create, review, and distribute Advancement queries, reports, lists, and dashboards that support fundraising, alumni engagement, stewardship, and division-wide planning Provide data, analysis, segmentation, forecasting, and performance tracking support to Advancement leadership and staff Help staff access, understand, and use data for donor strategy, engagement, communication, and reporting Leadership and Accountability Directly supervise the Gift Processing Coordinator and Administrative Assistant Oversee gift and pledge processing procedures to ensure gifts are recorded accurately, consistently, and in compliance with applicable policies and reporting requirements Set priorities, coordinate work, and ensure timely completion of projects and recurring responsibilities Ensure proper document retention practices for advancement related files to include gift agreements, acknowledgements, fund records, pledge/ planned gift commitments, board minutes, and other documents related to the external audit Oversee Advancement office technology and property management, including inventory and coordination of phones, computers, furniture, requisitions, and applicable bidding processes Advancement Data Access, User Support and Collaboration Serve as the central point of contact for Advancement data, reporting, list, and information requests Receive, clarify, prioritize, and fulfill data requests in a timely and accurate manner Provide training and guidance to Advancement staff on Slate use, data entry expectations, reporting processes, and operational procedures Document procedures and collaborate with campus partners to support consistent and accurate use of Advancement data The Successful Candidate Will:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in any field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience At least 2 years of experience in database management, operations, reporting, higher education advancement, nonprofit operations, business, finance, or a related field Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and present information clearly and accurately PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Significant experience with gift processing, advancement reporting, data segmentation, or constituent data management Experience using Slate or another advancement-oriented CRM Previous experience supervising staff and leading a team Familiarity with CASE standards and IRS regulations related to charitable giving, gift administration, and advancement services best practices Applications must be submitted electronically at http://employment.truman.edu/.
