- with basic IT troubleshooting skills Clinical Information Coordinator Principle Accountabilities and Essential Duties of the Job Conducts thorough systems assessment and utilizes findings when developing new or enhanced information system applications to be used by clinical users.
Participates in information system implementations through the adaptation of software to fit the needs of the providers. Facilitates the education of doctors and mid-level providers through the development and implementation of information system applications and related competencies. Establishes a course of action for self and others as they relate to project teams to accomplish specific goals; plan priorities, assignments, and effective and efficient allocation of resources. Responsible for the implementation of provider level clinical applications, providing training, education, guidance and support from project inception through completion. Requires a high level of thinking and self-direction. Participates in the design, development, documentation, testing, and support of software. Researches and recommends the implementation of technology to support the organization's strategic initiatives, mission, and values. Oversees the enhancement of existing applications to meet medical staff needs. Reviews software, analyzes doctor/provider clinical operations, and works with end-users to tailor the application to meet the organization's/service area's needs. Collaborates with councils, committees, and process improvement teams to meet the needs of the end-user. Demonstrates ability to self-manage based on assigned task and to assume full ownership of overall outcomes. Presents clinical products and applications to the organization that will enhance delivery of patient care. Manages multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines. Exceptional communication, organizational, and presentation skills. Conducts planning and execution of informatics strategy to provide point of care decision support. Analyzes and researches clinical information systems and processes to assist clinicians in meeting patient needs. Identifies areas for procedural improvements for providers. Provides detailed specifications describing functions to be automated. Applies best practices to the management of the clinical information system. Assures provider documentation efforts in the inpatient/outpatient arena meet regulatory/mandated requirements as well as best practice for documentation to ensure charges are in line with visit. Serves as an active member of the Information Systems Committee. Evaluates the effectiveness of healthcare information systems to support data, information, and knowledge requirements to improve provider and organizational outcomes. Defines and delegates work responsibilities with clear, consistent expectations and outcomes. Demonstrates both knowledge and application of organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines. Facilitates and supports change within the organization. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for maintaining security, confidentiality, and integrity of employee, patient, family and other medical information. Demonstrates the commitment to continuous learning for themselves and staff. Demonstrates and applies continuous quality improvement knowledge and skills. Researches and coordinates the implementation of clinical applications which provide optimum productivity, patient confidentiality, and system security and are in accordance with the organization's long-range goals. Develops and organizes educational training programs to ensure the proficiency within provider service areas, applications are utilized for maximum efficiency, and users are informed of new updates and revisions. Collaborates with health care professionals using automation to ensure appropriate, effective usage and understanding of the systems.
