Responsibilities:
Conducting all SHIIP business in a professional manner Successfully completing the SHIIP On-line Basic Training Working with the Regional Manager and Statewide Volunteer Manager to recruit Volunteer Counselors for basic training Publicizing the training and answering questions potential Volunteer Counselors may have about the program Interviewing potential Volunteer Counselors for suitability and determining whether they meet the participation requirements Scheduling trainings, quarterly follow-up meetings, and outreach events in collaboration with the SHIIP Regional Manager Assisting the Regional Manager in notifying Volunteer Counselors of upcoming SHIIP meetings Being trained as a "Certified" SHIIP County Coordinator Attending quarterly follow-up meetings to update Volunteer Counselors on miscellaneous county activities and address any questions Taking beneficiary calls during working hours and referring them to Volunteer Counselors for counseling Participating in SHIIP outreach activities, such as health fairs and speaking engagements, whenever possible Securing Volunteer Counselors to participate in outreach activities when unavailable Ensuring Volunteer Counselors complete a SHIIP Activity Report after each counseling or outreach session
About SHIIP:
The Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provides free and unbiased counseling to Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers on Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, and long-term care insurance. SHIIP counselors offer valuable information on Medicare healthcare products and assist in recognizing and preventing Medicare billing errors and potential fraud and abuse through the NC Senior Medicare Patrol Program.

Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; high attention to detail; experience with insurance a plus
