Job Description

Job Title Student Outcomes & Outreach Data Technician, Part-time, Temporary, 25 hours/week Full Time/Part Time Part-time Job Description The Student Outcomes & Outreach Data Technician supports data collection, report submission, and major project-related activities for the Steps4Growth grant. The primary job function is to collect and document post-completion employment outcomes for students who participate in courses/programs related to the grant. This will require conducting a high volume of outbound outreach and cold calling to verify employment data as well as securing formal consent to provide this information to grant funders. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the handling of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to ensure all outreach and data management activities remain in strict compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies. The successful candidate will utilize a variety of applications to document reliable, accurate, and dependable information in support of the goals of the Steps4Growth grant. This includes writing queries to extract raw data from diverse sources of campus data including the college's relational database, Colleague and the data querying tool, Informer. Additionally, the individual must be able to join, manipulate and analyze data to support requests for information. This includes being proficient in Microsoft products such as Excel and Access. Duties/Functions Student Outreach and Grant Management Execute high-volume phone and electronic campaigns to reconnect with post-completion, gathering critical employment metrics while maintaining a professional and empathetic tone. Clearly communicate to post-completion students how data will be shared and obtain their formal consent ensuring all interactions meet FERPA and PII protection standards. Utilize Excel and/or Access to maintain a database of student post-completion outcomes by accurately entering data, to include course completion, and employment records. Coordinate grant data submission and support reporting requirements for the Steps4Growth grant. Coordinate and attend meetings as needed Utilize the college's relational database (Colleague), its data querying tools(Informer and Zogotech) to extract raw data, render reports through various mediums for analysis. Join and manipulate data sets to produce reliable, accurate, and dependable information in support of the goals of the Steps4Growth grant. Provide data collection and analyses of the grant objectives and other related student success metrics. Review and evaluate the accuracy and appropriateness of student data, outcomes, goals, etc., and report discrepancies or concerns to the appropriate Director. Develop a systematic approach to work with project leads to update and address conflicting or non-conforming data. Collect student post-completion outcome data; gather, compile, and analyze information; prepare weekly reports for GTCC Steps4Growth grant leads. Complete reports requested by grant funders agencies and the College as needed. Implement effective oral communications skills, data collection, and analysis skills with instructors and staff in order to meet deadlines, insure report accuracy, and maximize program performance and retention. Institutional Research, Information Technology, SVP of College and Workforce Instruction Education Required Bachelor's Degree from an institutionally accredited post-secondary college/university Education Preferred Graduate credit hours in Business Administration, Research, Information Systems, or related field from an institutionally accredited post-secondary college/university Experience Required Two years of related records management experience. Advanced data entry skills with attention to detail. Experience recognizing, working with, and reporting data anomalies Experience analyzing, compiling, and reporting data analyses related to students. Experience with Excel, Word, Access and/or another database querying tool. Customer service experience Experience Preferred More than two years of related records management experience. Experience in an academic setting. Experience with an enterprise student information system (e.g., Colleague) Experience in outbound telephonic data collection and relationship management. Experience reviewing data according to grant programs and policies Experience with grant project management KSA Required Strong analytical skills Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Exhibited skills in communication, data entry, interpersonal relations, records management, and office procedures are essential. Ability to organize/prioritize work schedule to accommodate meeting deadlines. KSA Preferred Department/Job Specific Requirements Ability to participate as a team member, ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations, and ability to readily adjust to change. Must possess a pleasing telephone manner, be diplomatic, and tactful in dealing with people. Must show initiative and require minimal supervision to achieve assigned duties. Must have ability to use own judgment in decision-making situations. Must have good organizational and planning skills.
