Job Description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Big Data Developer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Big Data Developer to join a data engineering team responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines. This role involves designing and developing database-centric applications using both Oracle PL/SQL and a modern big data ecosystem, including Hadoop, Spark, and Trino/Starburst, to handle large-scale enterprise workloads.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and deploy database objects including stored procedures, functions, and packages using Oracle PL/SQL

Architect and implementplex ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and load large-scale structured and unstructured data

Design, develop, and maintain robust data processing jobs using the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark)

Write and optimizeplex SQL queries, analyze execution plans, and tune database performance

Troubleshoot production data issues, resolve pipeline bottlenecks, and manage system upgrades

Translate business requirements into logical and physical data models suitable for big data analytics

Collaborate with cross-functional software development and QA teams during testing and release deployments

Maintainprehensive technical documentation for all database objects and workflows

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

3-6+ years of hands-on experience in database development

Advanced SQL skills plex joins, CTEs, window functions, query optimization)

Strong proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL (Packages, Procedures, Functions, Triggers)

Strong hands-on experience with the

Hadoop Stack:

Hive, Spark, and HDFS

Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts

Experience with Trino/Starburst or similar distributed SQL engines

Knowledge of the OpenShift Container platform

Understanding of Apache Hive and Hive Metastore concepts

Experience with Python for automation

Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub/Bitbucket) and monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desired skills:

Familiarity with migrating or running Hadoop workloads on cloud platforms (AWS EMR, Databricks, or Google Dataproc)

Knowledge of data governance tools like Ranger or Atlas

Basic to intermediate knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting

Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
