Senior Data Modeler / Data Architect (CDM Program)

Ability to obtain Public Trust Overview We are seeking a Senior Data Modeler / Data Architect to support dashboard development for a large-scale federal cybersecurity program (CDM). This role will serve as the subject matter expert for data modeling and data design , partnering closely with stakeholders to design, evolve, and maintain data structures that support cybersecurity analytics and reporting. This is a client-facing, senior-level role requiring strong communication skills and the ability to operate with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Key Responsibilities Lead data modeling, data design, and database architecture efforts Design and evolve data structures to support dashboards and analytics Build and maintain data dictionaries, data catalogs, and clear data definitions Perform impact analysis and manage change processes for data models Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and customers , translating requirements into technical solutions Partner with governance teams to define and implement data quality standards and policies Support requirements gathering and ensure alignment with data architecture Collaborate with analysts and cross-functional teams to enable effective data usage Evaluate code (e.g., Python) to understand data flows and model dependencies Ensure data quality, consistency, and usability across systems Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or database design (flexible for strong candidates) Strong expertise in: Data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) ERDs, UML, entities/relationships Relational and non-relational databases Data normalization and data structure design Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries and data catalogs Ability to work directly with clients and communicate technical concepts clearly Experience managing data model changes and governance processes Working knowledge of Python for data analysis or validation Experience with tools such as Databricks, Alation, Jira, Confluence or similar Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities Preferred Qualifications Experience with cybersecurity data or frameworks (e.g., CDM, SCAP, STIX, Elastic Common Schema, Splunk CIM) Familiarity with Elasticsearch / Elastic dashboards Experience in data warehousing environments Exposure to data governance frameworks and policies Ability to support automation or process improvements Work Environment ~60% data modeling and design 20-30% stakeholder interaction and client meetings Remaining time collaborating with internal teams (analysts, governance, requirements) No direct reports; highly collaborative role across multiple teams What Success Looks Like Delivering scalable, well-documented data models Acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders Enabling high-quality data for dashboarding and analytics Adapting quickly as program priorities evolve
Compensation Salary:
$155,000 - $220,000
