Job Description
Position Summary The Connecticut Audubon Society seeks a highly organized, analytical and systems-minded Development Data & Operations Manager to oversee the data, systems and processes that support the organization's statewide fundraising and membership programs. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Data & Operations Manager serves as the primary administrator of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT and plays a central role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and strategic use of donor and member data. This position manages gift processing, database administration, reporting, and financial reconciliation while helping the Development team use data to strengthen donor acquisition, retention, membership, annual giving and major-gift fundraising. The successful candidate will combine exceptional attention to detail with curiosity and analytical thinking. This is an opportunity for a development operations professional who enjoys not only maintaining accurate data, but also using it to identify trends, improve fundraising performance and support sound decision-making. Key Responsibilities Database Administration & Data Integrity Serve as the primary administrator of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT and related development systems. Maintain accurate constituent, donor, member, prospect, gift, appeal, campaign and fund records. Establish and maintain database standards, coding conventions and data-entry procedures. Conduct routine database audits, duplicate management and data-quality reviews. Manage imports, exports, queries, global changes and other database processes. Monitor integrations between Raiser's Edge and online giving, communications and other organizational systems. Troubleshoot database issues and coordinate with Blackbaud or other vendors as necessary. Maintain appropriate security, access and confidentiality standards for donor information. Gift Processing & Financial Reconciliation Oversee accurate and timely processing of contributions, memberships, pledges, recurring gifts, matching gifts, tribute gifts, stock gifts and other charitable revenue. Ensure accurate gift coding by fund, campaign and appeal. Manage donor acknowledgments and tax-receipt processes. Work closely with Finance to reconcile contributed revenue and resolve discrepancies. Maintain appropriate documentation and internal controls related to gift processing. Annual Giving & Membership Support Develop accurate mailing, email and solicitation lists for annual appeals, membership renewals, acquisition campaigns and special initiatives. Partner with Development staff to improve donor and member segmentation. Support strategies designed to encourage second gifts, upgrades, renewals and reactivation of lapsed supporters. Track appeal, campaign and membership performance and provide post-campaign analysis. Support recurring giving and sustainer programs. Development Operations Develop and document efficient Development Department workflows and procedures. Identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks and improve data and operational efficiency. Provide database training and support to staff who use development systems. Coordinate with Communications, Finance and other departments on data needs and system processes. Maintain an annual calendar of recurring database, reporting and development operations activities. Qualifications Required At least three to five years of experience in nonprofit development operations, advancement services, fundraising database management or a closely related field. Demonstrated proficiency with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT. Experience with gift processing, constituent records, queries, exports, imports and fundraising reporting. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets. Demonstrated ability to analyze fundraising information and communicate findings clearly. Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational and project-management skills. Ability to manage confidential donor and financial information with discretion. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across departments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to Connecticut Audubon Society's conservation mission. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant professional experience will be considered. Preferred Experience with Blackbaud Database View and NXT, and RE Financial Edge integration. Experience with donor segmentation, RFM analysis and fundraising-performance metrics. Experience with membership organizations or membership fundraising. Experience with online-giving integrations and recurring-gift programs. Experience with prospect research, wealth screening or moves management. Experience developing dashboards or other data-visualization tools. Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising practices, donor stewardship and charitable-gift processing.
