The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) provides leadership, counsel, and services in the areas of strategic planning, institutional research and reporting, and the coordination of an interrelated, systematic program of planning, assessment, and evaluation to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the college. OIE also serves as the central source of official information regarding the college's statistical profile, academic programs, courses, transfer articulation agreements, labor market data, and institutional effectiveness efforts. The position of Senior Research Analyst/Data Coordinator reports to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness. The core responsibilities of this position include: Software Application Development, Management, and Documentation :
Develop and maintain Oracle queries, SAS Enterprise Guide programs, and SQL programs and warehouses as needed. Establish and organize libraries in a SQL warehouse, work with multiple stakeholders to create comprehensive and effective queries and programs and help create user training opportunities. Prepare automatic reporting as requested by various internal and external constituencies and document procedures for conducting recurrent assignments. Data Visualization :
Provide leadership in transitioning static reports into data visualizations and dashboards using Power-BI. Build and maintain interactive data visualizations and dashboards and refine them based on feedback. Data Reporting :
Provide data and analysis to meet state and federal reporting requirements. Produce and analyze data for various reports, including fact sheets, enrollment summaries, and profiles. Internal and Ad-Hoc Reporting :
Produce data and visualizations for ad hoc reporting for various audiences, and for the Director. Provide strategic, timely, and accurate information to support executive decision-making. Accreditation, Assessment, and Strategic Planning :
Maintain the Student Achievement Data page for the college. Provide data support regarding accreditation, assessment, and planning activities. In collaboration with the Director, develop program assessment and general education assessment report templates, and populate templates with data to support course, competencies, and program reviews. Support the Director in assessment and evaluation activities with data analytics and visualizations. Minimum Qualifications:
The Senior Research Analyst/Data Coordinator is expected to: Work effectively independently and collaboratively as a member of the IE team and with a diverse and inclusive campus community, producing accurate, visually engaging, and Section 508 accessible content. Show considerable knowledge of statistical software (SAS Enterprise Guide preferred), structured query language, research methodology, and statistical and analytical techniques. Demonstrate a skill set to build dashboards and queries using data applications according to specifications. Demonstrate a skill set to create and modify data modeling using inferential statistics that pull from various database sources and interpret, combine, and format the data for use by constituents. Demonstrate effective analytical and organizational capabilities. Analyze data and develop reports for both internal and external audiences. Demonstrate the skill set to effectively communicate data findings via written reports, clear presentations to individuals and groups, using creative visualizations. Demonstrate the computer skills in Windows Office applications, including advanced skills using PowerBI, statistical software (i.e., SAS, Microsoft Excel), and programming language(s) (i.e., SQL, Python) to manipulate, summarize, and effectively present data. Manage and update data lineage and data dictionaries. Author technical documentation including user manuals, technical design documents, and / or data definitions. Work on multiple projects effectively and prioritize, as directed, to complete complex projects within established timeframes, and to accurately perform detailed work. Demonstrate willingness to learn and utilize new technologies to increase efficiencies and effectiveness within OIE. Successful completion and passing of a background check is required. Additional Considerations:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of college coursework and/or experience in programming and troubleshooting code, information systems, database applications, research methods, visualizations, and/or statistical analysis using college data systems. Master's degree. Experience with the following:
data extraction, analysis, and uploading data in an educational setting, familiarity with PeopleSoft Oracle SIS; knowledge and experience using statistical analysis packages, such as SAS, SPSS, or STATA; knowledge and experience developing and/or maintaining interactive data visualizations and dashboards for a variety of audiences. Experience working in an institution of higher education. Knowledge of, and commitment to, the community college mission. Knowledge and experience utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance or improve data analysis and reporting.
